Starlink Troubleshooting Guide
Starlink doesn't show numeric error codes -- it surfaces named status messages in the mobile app. Common ones: ObstructionFault (sky blocked), AntennaUnreachable (cable problem), Booting (still warming up), Disconnected (account or upstream), Overheated (hot weather), and various router and authentication issues. This hub covers what each status means, why it happens, what to check first, and when to swap hardware.

Starlink Hardware Platforms

| Business | Priority service tier, higher upload, dedicated SLA. Same hardware as Gen 3 / High Performance. |
| Mesh | Additional WiFi node for whole-home coverage. Pairs with Standard or Gen 3 router. |
Common Issues at a Glance
- Obstruction Fault -- trees, roof, or structures blocking sky view (use the app Visibility tool to map)
- Antenna Unreachable -- water in the proprietary cable connector, kinked cable, or rodent damage
- Booting -- normal 2-5 min cold boot, longer means hardware issue
- Disconnected -- account suspended, region/portability mismatch, or upstream outage
- Overheated -- direct sun in hot climates, provide shade without obstructing sky
- Slow Speeds -- congestion in your cell, partial obstruction, or pre-failure dish
- Account Auth Failure -- email change, password reset, plan downgrade pending
- Software Update Required -- mandatory firmware update queued for next idle window
