Marine Diesel Fault Codes
Sailboat auxiliaries, cruiser power, sportfisher and trawler engines. Yanmar JH-series and Volvo Penta D-series cover the bulk of pleasure-boat diesels; Cummins and CAT marine ratings cover commercial vessels and larger sportfishers. Marine diesels share most of the same SPN/FMI codes as their on-highway cousins, but you'll see marine-specific issues like seawater pump wear, bilge water alarms, riser and exhaust temperature limits, and EVC bus faults that don't exist on land.

Showing 21 of 21 marine codes (Yanmar marine + Volvo Penta), sorted by severity.

Common Marine Diesel Issues
- Seawater pump impeller wear or strainer blockage -- causes rapid coolant temperature climb and exhaust riser damage
- Bilge water level high -- investigate for hull leak or stuffing-box leak immediately
- Engine overheat (110-0) on summer cruise from blocked sea strainer
- DEF system maintenance on Tier 3 marine SCR engines
- EVC / instrument cluster CAN bus off (639-14) -- bus terminator or harness issue
- Trolling mode fault on integrated marine transmissions
- Glow plug / cold start issues after winter layup
