Skid Steer Fault Codes

Skid steer loaders and compact track loaders from CAT, Bobcat, John Deere, and Kubota -- the most-rented compact equipment in construction and landscaping. CAT D3 / D3 XE machines run C2.2, C3.3B, or C3.4B engines with J1939 SPN-FMI plus CAT-specific event codes. Bobcat hubs live separately since most current units share a Kubota V3800. This hub starts with CAT skid steers and compact track loaders; Bobcat / Deere / Kubota cross-link to their dedicated brand pages.

Common Skid Steer Issues

  • Hydraulic oil temperature high (HYDRAULIC-OIL-TEMP-HIGH) -- sustained loader work in hot weather, blocked oil cooler
  • Engine coolant temperature high (110-0) -- debris on radiator screen, common during landscaping season
  • DEF tank level low (1761-1) on Tier 4 Final units -- needs DEF top-up
  • DPF differential pressure high (3251-15) -- short-cycle work prevents passive regen
  • Battery voltage low (168-4) -- worn battery on rental fleet machines
  • Operator seat switch open (SEAT-SWITCH-OPEN) -- safety interlock blocks function
  • Park brake pressure fault (PARK-BRAKE-FAULT) -- hydraulic pressure issue or sensor failure
