Kubota Fault Codes

Kubota dominates the compact and sub-compact diesel market and supplies engines to a long list of equipment OEMs (Bobcat, Toro, Case, Wacker Neuson, and many others). The current V3800-CR-TIER4F is the most common Kubota engine in North America, powering most modern Bobcat skid steers as well as Kubota's own L, M, and SVL machines. Older D902 and D1105 indirect-injection engines are still everywhere on small ag equipment but have known swirl chamber failures at high hours. Diagnostics are read via Kubota Diagmaster (dealer software).

Kubota Engine Platforms

Platform Years Applications Notes
Kubota V3800-CR-TIER4F 2014-present Kubota M5/M6/M7 utility tractors, SVL/SSV skid steers; Bobcat S-Series + T-Series + E-Series 3.8L common-rail Tier 4 Final. Most common Kubota engine in North American compact / construction equipment. Powers most current Bobcat machines.
Kubota V3307 / V2607 / V2403 2014-present Kubota L-series and BX-series compact tractors; smaller skid steers and mini ex 3.3L / 2.6L / 2.4L common-rail Tier 4 Final platforms. Same architecture as V3800, scaled down.
Kubota D902 / D1105 / D1305 / V1505 2003-present (industrial) Smaller compact tractors, Onan Quiet Diesel gensets, RV gensets, mini ex Indirect-injection D-series and V-series. Older mechanical-injection units (D902, D1105) are notorious for swirl chamber cracking on high hours.
Kubota M5-091 / M5-111 / M7060 2014-present Kubota mid-frame utility tractors Tractor-specific platforms. Code reading via Kubota Diagmaster dealer software.

Common Kubota Issues

  • Swirl chamber (pre-cup) cracking on older D902 / D1105 indirect-injection -- glow plug "blow-out" symptom (BLINK-2)
  • DPF clogging from short-duty cycles in skid-steer and compact tractor work
  • EGR valve carbon-fouling and position sensor faults
  • Common-rail SCV (suction control valve) failures on V3800 / V3307
  • Coolant temperature high (E03/E04) from blocked rad fins in dusty ag environments
  • Fuel filter water contamination causing rail pressure faults
  • Glow plug control module failures on Tier 4 Final engines
